Mark J. Breckler, Senior Attorney Mediator

Mark Breckler began his civil service career as a California state prosecutor in 1979. Prior to joining the DFEH as an Attorney Mediator in 2017, Mark served as Chief Assistant Attorney General in the Public Rights Division of the Office of the Attorney General, managing and directing the work of the division’s statewide legal team, where he previously investigated and litigated cases. Mark received the Attorney General’s Team Award in 2003 for his work on the Energy Task Force, in 2005 for leading the Securities Task Force and in 2010 for leading the Auction Rate Securities Team. In 2007, Mark received the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Management. Mark graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.A. in Criminology, earned his J.D. from San Fernando Valley College of Law, and received a certificate in mediation from the University of California Berkeley Extension in 2016. Mark works in the Dispute Resolution Division’s Fremont office.
