Kristin Rizzo, Attorney Mediator
Kristin Rizzo joined DFEH’s Dispute Resolution Division in 2021. Kristin has an extensive background in employment mediation, litigation, and the strategic representation of individuals and businesses, including as a former Litigation Attorney for the San Diego law firm of Higgs, Fletcher & Mack, LLP. In 2011 Kristin opened her own litigation and advisory practice, representing individuals and companies in harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination, wage and hour, class action cases, separation, severance, and contract matters. In 2017 Kristin focused her private practice on employment neutral services, including mediation and independent workplace investigation, and in 2019, became a full-time neutral. Kristin has been recognized as a San Diego Rising Star, and Super Lawyer in Employment Litigation and in Alternative Dispute Resolution. She is an active member and past President of the San Diego County Bar Association where she speaks extensively on leadership, employment law, and mediation. Kristin also serves as a Commissioner on the City of San Diego’s Human Relations Commission. A cum laude graduate of the University of California at San Diego, Kristin holds bachelor’s degrees in Political Science – International Relations and Spanish Literature. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law, where she externed for the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney’s Office, Southern District, San Diego, and also served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Nita L. Stormes, Magistrate Judge, United States District Court for the Southern District of California. Kristin received her mediation training from the National Conflict Resolution Center and from Pepperdine University’s Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution.
